It’s always unfortunate when people come to us with pain after they start a gym program. Unfortunately this is extremely common. In your zeal to "get in shape" you join a gym and start "working out".

Like most things, there is a learning curve to exercise. How you do the movements, which movements you do, and which movements you DON’T do, will determine the success and safety of your exercise routine.

No two people are the same. That’s why a generic exercise program is destined to lead to failure, or worse… injury. At FORWARD PT our trainers conduct a thorough assessment to determine where you are starting from so your exercise program can be tailored to YOU.

This is especially important for anyone dealing with a medical condition. How does your knee arthritis effect which exercise you should do to strengthen your legs? Should you be doing that exercise if you have osteoporosis? What about if you have a history of back pain?

For most people (and many personal trainers) all exercise is good exercise. We know better. What will help one person get stronger may cause someone else back pain. What will improve one persons endurance may exacerbate someone else's arthritis.

As physical therapists we are very sensitive to proper movement and correct exercise form and we demand the same from our trainers. That’s why all our trainers have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and extensive experience successfully helping clients achieve their fitness goals.
